NEW YORK, NEW YORK by Emily Berman

Big news, folks.

In January of 2019, I moved to New York City, in search of new energy and new opportunities. I’m here auditioning, spending lots of time on the subway, and generally loving it so far. I miss Chicago already, and it keeps pulling me back - in my three months of being here I’ve already been back to Chicago three times, which is just fine by me. New Yorkers - let’s get coffee! And Chicago - I’ll be back soon.

October through December of 2016, I had the great fortune to play the title role in a world premiere play, MISS BENNET: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY, at Northlight Theatre; it was an incredibly rewarding experience all around. Doing this play at Northlight with such a fantastic cast, under Jessica Thebus's direction, reinforced my love for collaboration in bringing new work to life.  And those little tiny curls were fun to wrangle each night. :)

Next up in January (I did double duty for a whole week!) was THE HUNDRED DRESSES at Chicago Children's Theatre!  This was a fun one because I got to sing AND play instruments - piano, guitar, ukulele, and mandolin to be precise.  It was also my first time performing for kids, and I'll never forget the energy and openness with which they received our anti-bullying, pro-immigrant message.

Now auditioning for next season and looking forward to one more exciting gig between now and then: more news soon!
